Fake Spectators

Some maps have fake player slots, which:

  • are intended to be used for spectating.
  • start with only a truck, command center, and Satellite Uplink Center.
  • are usually hidden on the edges of the map to not interfere with normal players.

Real Spectators

Real spectators were added in 4.2. But they lack some behavior of the old fake spectators.

  • Fake spectators can chat with players, but real spectators can't.

Because of this, some people may want to continue using fake spectator maps.

Feature Request

Game option for spectator chat to be visible globally (everyone can read). Default = hidden
