Users/Customers?

What are the users and customers tables for? I ran through a test checkout and no entry was added to the users or customers tables but a new order was added to the orders table.

Lunar is headless (in that it doesn't provide a storefront), the starter kit is just that - it's not a comprehensive storefront. It's up to the developer to implement the UX they require, and if that includes a customer login area or similar, then great. Lunar gives you the tools and you implement them.

But saying that, we do have plans for storefront solutions later this year.

So you're saying the tables are just there for no reason until the developer decides to use them. I guess i'm fine with that, just wanted to make sure they weren't being used for something else.

No, they're not there for no reason. They are integrated into the Lunar core and admin panel. It's just that it's up to the developer to utilise them how they wish in their storefront build.
