About to have solar panels and batteries installed. I've been quoted for a SolaX X1-IES system. I've also got a Waveshare RS485 to POE ETH device going spare, so figure I'll use that for interfacing with one of the RS845 connections on the inverter.
I'm looking at the best place to connect up the inverter to home assistant to use with this plugin ahead of time so that I can get the installer to connect the wiring in to the correct place.
It seems like there are there are three different RS485 points on the inverters COM connection, but little information is available on the differences:
P2 pin 1/2 - labelled simply "RS485"
P3 pin 7/8 - labelled "REMOTE_RS485", with a description of "Communication with SolaX's Datahub, EV Charger, Adapter Box and other internal devices"
P4 pin 11/12 - labelled "MODBUS_485", with description of "Communication with other external devices"
The P3 pins ("REMOTE_RS485") are potentially going to be connected up to a "SolaX Adapter Box G2" to allow connection to an SG-Ready heat pump (might not be needed). This adapter box has two RS845 points to essentially allow daisy chaining, so I could easily connect my RS485 adapter to this adapter box without needing to mess around with any connections on the inverter itself.
Does anyone know if there are any differences between the three RS485 ports? Does it matter which one I connect to?
