This project explores immigration patterns to Canada using a case study approach.
In the aftermath of Haitiβs devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake in 2010, Canada ramped up its humanitarian efforts by accepting more refugees, including those from Haiti.
Using data visualization (line plots), we:
-
Compare immigration trends from the top 5 countries contributing the most immigrants to Canada.
-
Highlight key insights, such as the remarkably similar immigration patterns from China and India over the years.
This case study demonstrates how real-world global events influence migration trends and how data can be used to understand their impact.

β Line Graph I compare immigration trends from the top 5 countries contributing the most immigrants to Canada
-
β Stacked Area Plot β Top 5 Countries We transformed a basic line plot into a stacked area plot to better visualize cumulative trends in immigration from the top 5 contributing countries. Area plots are stacked by default in pandas.

β Pie Chart β Immigration by Continent (2013) To explore continent-level proportions of immigration in 2013, we created an improved pie chart.
